So far so good… I’ve managed to get this off-shelf theme to look very much like the original uncommonpear.com site that I had built last year. It took a bit of digging through the template files and stylesheets, but thankfully the original theme was pretty light on complexity.

Plugins are a whole other ball of wax and I’ve found that one must really “try and decide” as the assessments and descriptions on the web are pretty one sided. Also, the effectiveness of a given plugin is pretty dependent on the particular site design being used.

All that said, I have the logo up, the anti-spam system working, and the colour-scheme almost there. The next big task will be styling the photo galleries so that they match the colour scheme and link back to the blog engine. Stay tuned and feel free to register and comment.
