Over the course of the last few weeks, our Hitachi Rear-Project HDTV has been increasingly mis-focussing its blue gun, resulting in blue and yellow shadows on screen. At 43″ and 153 pounds, we can’t just take it in for service, so the cost of simply getting an estimate could be high, given the need for a tech to make housecall.

That’s where the internet, and more specifically hdtvoice.com comes in. A quick Google search pulled up this thread, which might contain a do-it-yourself fix for our problem.

While it would be nice to get a newer, more compact set with 1080p resolution, we’ve only had this set about six years and we really don’t feel the need to drop a couple grand on a TV right now, so hopefully, this fix applies to our set and I’m able to execute it without causing further damage.
