Everyone thought it yesterday was going to be commuting day from hell. What with the 35cm of snow and the OC Transpo strike, who would have thought otherwise. Turns out yesterday was easy ’cause people elected to stay with their kids who saw their school bus service cancelled. This meant light volumes on the roads and no school buses. Today, on the other hand, had everyone going to work, along with the school buses.

My normal 30 minute bus ride was replaced with an hour long drive and 30 minutes of searching for parking. I finally found something, but could only stay there for an hour — really good for worker productivity when you spend half the day moving your car and feeding the meter.

Luckily, I have secure VPN access from home, so I headed back home and worked remotely. Tomorrow will be another story as I have to be in the office for day-long meetings. Guess I’ll be leaving the house at some ungodly hour.

I wish the strike was over and that the right to strike could be replaced with the right to binding arbitration.
