While megapixel count tends to be the driving force in selling consumer-oriented cameras, the reality is that most people will never print at sizes that warrant over 8MP. Nevertheless, more MP will yield more detail, greater clarity, and enhanced sharpness as long as the negatives, like noise, are managed.
