In preparation for painting and packing for our move later this year, I’m letting go of a number of books from my bookshelves. I’ll be making a donation to a local library within the next two weeks, but before I do, I’m offering my bookish friends first pick. First come, first served.
MOMIX‘s Botanica shown at the NAC tonight was a fantastic show by this world-renowned company of dancer-illusionists. Creative, beautiful, and astonishing images with breathtaking backdrops and fantastic costumes. Would I see this again? In a flash!
A Russian production on a grand scale, with glittering costumes and exquisite dancers! Virtuoso performances by the Kirov’s lead dancers against a corps background of some 30-40, including special appearances by a number of Ottawa students. Bravo!

This past Friday night marked the final episode in what we’ve come to regard as one of the best shows ever broadcast on television. This is serious praise given the regard in which we hold other brilliant series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, and The X-Files.
The second time seeing this Brazilian dance company, I was not disappointed.

We got out to see The Dark Knight tonight and despite being out for two weeks, line-ups were still plentiful. As expected, the movie was great, particularly Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker.
