While megapixel count tends to be the driving force in selling consumer-oriented cameras, the reality is that most people will never print at sizes that warrant over 8MP. Nevertheless, more MP will yield more detail, greater clarity, and enhanced sharpness as long as the negatives, like noise, are managed.
The Canon 50D, as detailed in Canon 50D Milestone, as published on www.luminous-landscape.com, takes an interesting look at how that camera’s unprecedented pixel-density is revealing the short-comings of even the most highly regarded lenses.
For several years, many photographers and industry types, including the Luminous Landscape’s Michael Reichman, have been warning that this day would come and that manufacturers would have to offer better glass to keep up with sensor resolution.
We wanted to surprise folks, so this post is a little late, but it all worked out because the time-lag let me get some pictures taken. (more…)

I’m back to work, but spent my last day off taking some pictures in and around Ottawa’s Arboretum. I’ve produced different treatments of the same capture in some cases. I also learned the dangers of over-polarizing. (more…)
