Sun-drenched meezer

By Trish Edwards

Blue eyes squint myopically,
Blissful in the fleeting warmth of a sunbeam,
Dreams of snug, inviting laps.

Chocolate tail coils tight
Perfect ‘o’ drizzled through cream,
Spiky teeth glitter, pink tongue curls, yawning wide.

Mmm, blazing rays of sun…

A hair out of place, a hair out of place
Somewhere, somewhere, plasters it down.
Somewhere to be.

Stands, stretching tall, stretches, stretches
Taps a sharp, curvy claw. Takes a step.

But, where…?

Mmm, baking hot sun.
Sits back, cerulean eyes shut in ecstasy
Ahh, warm, cozy laps.
